Once you know what you want in order to be successful, then that should be your overriding goal in life. However, instead of sitting around wishing, or waiting for your big chance, you need to plan for it. You need to create a plan that has a beginning and an end. It takes you from where you are now, right up to achieving your goal. Everything you write on your plan should take you one step closer to achieving your goal. You need to plan for the short-term and the long-term. You need to be able to see how doing one thing on your plan will invariably lead to another.
Do at least one thing per day
This is probably the most important rule you will ever have to follow. You need to do something every day that is going to bring you slightly closer to success. If you have a plan, then finding something to do each day should be easy.
Do not succumb to excuses
Do not tell yourself that you cannot do something today because you do not have the money or the time. There is always something you can do to bring you closer to success, even if that thing is something small and relatively inconsequential. For example, if you need to create a website you may wish to portion off part of your day to write a little bit of base HTML code.
But, if you do not have the time, then you can do something as small as cleaning your computer room/home office so that you will not have to clean it on the day when you sit down to write your base code. Even if you do not have time to clean your computer room/home office, you could look at other websites on your Smartphone whilst you are on the bus, and take a few notes as inspiration for your website.
Don’t forget that luck is something you must use
Famous and successful people will tell you that they worked hard, but they will also tell you that they got lucky. But, the fact is that their success did not come from luck, it came from the fact that they used their good luck.
The rapper who is signed whilst drinking in a bar may be lucky, but if that rapper had not spent his life practicing rapping, then he would not have been signed. The head of a company who got her first job with the company through a friend would not have had a friend recommend her for the job if she had not already shown the potential to be good at the job.
